About Upward

Upward is a fun, reliable, passionate and encouraging sports experience for boys and girls, in K5 through sixth grade. Upward provides first class, organized and detailed sports programming in basketball, soccer, flag football and cheerleading. Unique aspects of Upward include an evaluation system that promotes equal and competitive teams as well as a substitution system which allows for equal playing time for all participants.Through Upward, children are exposed to quality coaching and sport development. Upward emphasizes character and integrity instead of a “win at all costs” mentality associated with today’s sports world.

Upward promotes Character and Self-Esteem in every child by:

Providing an evaluation system that promotes equal teams and opportunities
Establishing a one-hours practice and game each week
Implementing a substitution system for each team, allowing every child equal playing time
Creating the opportunity for every child to learn the skills of the game

Upward is more than a game. Your child will have fun learning or improving their basketball skills through Upward. Participating in this league will give your child a chance to experience good sportsman on and off the court. While playing Upward Basketball, your child will receive a special recognition award after every game and have the opportunity to develop new friendships.

When is Upward? For the Winter 2010 Season the first practice was the first Tuesday in December and the first game was the first Saturday in January. We were to play 8 games during the season (however due to snow we had to cancel and reschedule a few games). The Upward Award Celebration took place the last Friday in February. More information on the WINTER 2011 SEASON will be available in September 2010.

How much does it cost? For the Winter 2010 season the cost per child for basketball was $20. Deadline for registration was the beginning of November. Basketball shorts were included in the registration cost. Scholarships are available. More information on the WINTER 2011 SEASON will be available in September 2010.
