History
Cedar Bluff Baptist Church was organized in 1883. The first preachers at the church were from Marion Baptist who conducted services on Sunday afternoons. Several local preachers helped during the early beginnings of teh Church. Among them were Rev. Rouse, Rev. Maiden, and Rev. William Britton.
Rev. Dunnaway from Marion was among the first pastors. In 1904, Rev. Trainham became pastor of the Church. He was followed by Rev. Walter Hash from Grayson County. In 1907 the old church was torn down and in 1909 the new church building was dedicated.
After Rev. Hash, the following pastors served the church: Rev. A. B. Brooks, Rev. H.W. Bellamy, Rev. J.F. (Fell) Aker, Rev. Jess Shumate, Rev. R.E. Caudill, Rev. Bryce Barton, Rev. Earl Blankenship, Rev. Edgar Sigmon, Rev. William Jones, Rev. Claude Slagle, Rev. Lloyd Greer, Rev. James Hubbard, Rev. Ronnie Sills, Rev. Ray Walls, Rev. Grady M. Byrd, and present pastor, Rev. Eddie Beck.
On July 5, 1967, the church purchased the ground on which to build a new church building. A ground breaking was held on April 14, 1968, and grading was started for teh new building on May 10, 1968. On June 15, 1969 the new building was dedicated.
In 1977, the present parsonage was built and in 1978, two new floors of educational space was added. In the fall of 1978 and spring of 1979 the present fellowship hall was completed. The church voted to purchase three acres of land adjoining present property to the east. In 2002, a Family Life Center was built to aid to the educational needs and recreational needs of our church members.
